‘Tis the season to be running…. and there’s plenty to choose from. Here’s our round up of the top 10 events to take in this Autumn:
The Scottish Half Marathon is the newest event on the UK’s running calendar on Saturday 19th September 2015. The route is seriously flat & rapid – if you want to set a personal best for a half marathon, then this is the event for you.
The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running on 27th September 2015 is a notable fixture on the running calendar. There are great marathons around the world, many of them particularly marked by their settings, and the Loch Ness ranks right alongside them.
The Culloden Run 17.46k and the Culloden 10K are events devised by leading charity Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland in partnership Run4It and the National Trust for Scotland, they will take place on Sunday October 25th 2015.
The Keepsafe Perth 10K, held on the 30th August 2015, is a fast flat course, perfect for your 10K PB! The race is limited to 500 places, so get your entry in quick!
Total Warrior is coming to Scotland on 12th and 13th September! Following the success of the Lake District and Leeds events, there is going to be an event held at North Berwick near Edinburgh in September.
Some events can be stressful and many runners have doubts before events on whether they can complete the distance or cover a specific distance in a certain time. Road Block Run on 13th September is anything but stressful!
The Pentland Skyline race is one of the toughest races around. Taking place on 11th October, the route is 16 miles long and includes 6200 feet of climbing. Conditions can be brutal if it is cold, wet and windy, and visibility can be poor or near non-existent. A real off road challenge.
The iconic Aviemore 10k & Half Marathon takes place in the Badaguish Estate in the heart of the Cairngorms on October 11th 2015 . With a reputation for one of the fastest 10k and Half Marathon courses in Scotland, this promises to be another fine chapter in the running of this excellent event.
The Fare Challenge returns for its second year to Raemoir House Hotel in the heart of Aberdeenshire on Sunday August 23rd.
One of Scotland’s most popular races, the Stirling 10k returns for 2015 on September 13th. Central Athletics Club and Run4It are proud to host this race in the city of Stirling. The race is chip-timed and ran on a flat and accurately measured course which lends itself to a late summer PB due to the quality field.
